About Mehrunisa V Lub U
Ali (Danish Taimoor) comes home to Karachi from years abroad in China, arms full of gifts and his heart set on Mehrunisa (Sana Javed), the childhood crush he has never stopped loving. The families happily arrange the match, but there is a catch: Mehru grew up amid clean mountain air and open skies, and she simply cannot settle into Ali's cramped, chaotic, none-too-tidy old neighborhood. As her unhappiness grows, Ali realizes that winning her for good means something bigger than romance. He sets out to rally his stubborn mohalla to clean up and take pride in itself, just as a slippery local politician schemes to buy the whole area out from under them. Written and directed by Yasir Nawaz, Mehrunisa V Lub U is a bright, broad Eid romantic comedy that wraps a sweet message about community and civic pride inside a big, colorful crowd-pleaser.

As Eid candy goes, this one is colorful and good-natured, and you have to admire a mass-market rom-com whose big idea is, of all things, civic pride and cleaning up your own street. Danish Taimoor and Sana Javed are easy on the eyes and game for the fun. Our gripe? It coasts on those good looks instead of writing real characters, and the crude, wink-wink humor sits awkwardly against the wholesome family-film packaging. A breezy watch with a sweet heart and a messy script.
