About MERA KHUDA JANAY
Six years into a childless marriage, Roohi (Hira Mani) finds her private grief turned into a family verdict. Her mother-in-law assumes Roohi is infertile and pressures Waleed (Ali Abbas) to take another wife so the household can secure an heir. Waleed resists at first, but his resolve buckles, bringing his cousin Iqra (Anum Fayyaz) into a marriage already strained by blame and expectation. With Iqra's brother Shafiq (Alyy Khan) deepening the tensions, Roohi must navigate a home where suspicion travels faster than truth and a woman's worth is measured against motherhood.
Written by Samina Ejaz and directed by Zeeshan Ahmed, Mera Khuda Janay turns a domestic crisis into a pointed look at infertility stigma, inheritance anxiety, and the double standard that makes women answer for every silence in a marriage. Its emotional pull comes from watching Roohi fight to retain her dignity when the people closest to her begin treating fate as evidence against her.
Editor’s Take
The infertility premise has real bite: every family demand turns Roohi's private pain into a public trial, and we felt the show's anger at that double standard. Our gripe? The writing sometimes piles so much suffering onto her that its social critique starts feeling punishing rather than probing. Yet when the story finds its more liberating nerve, it cuts through the melodrama. Frustrating, provocative, and impossible to dismiss, this one leaves the hypocrisy nowhere to hide.
