About Meraas

In Meraas, inheritance turns a family home into a pressure cooker. Jahan Aara (Savera Nadeem) is a wealthy, formidable woman whose father has kept her unmarried so the family property stays within his control. Haris (Mohsin Abbas Haider) is restless, short of money, and fixated on building a life abroad. His reluctant marriage to the gentle Jiya (Saboor Aly), a poor young woman waiting for fortune to change, cannot compete with that ambition. When Jahan Aara offers Haris the wealth and overseas future he craves in exchange for marriage, affection, status, and survival become dangerously entangled. Her stepbrother Ali (Fahad Sheikh) is soon drawn into the struggle, putting Jiya under even greater pressure. Written by Hina Aman, the drama uses its tense haveli world to ask a sharp question: when inheritance dictates who may love, marry, and belong, can anyone choose happiness on their own terms?

Savera Nadeem owns every inch of Meraas, matching Jahan Aara's iron grip with a presence that makes the drama's richly detailed haveli feel like her private kingdom. We also love how Mohsin Abbas Haider's restless opportunist gives all that grandeur a scruffier counterweight. Our one gripe? The tyranny is painted in very broad strokes, so subtlety rarely gets a seat at the table. Still, this is handsome, high-pressure melodrama with a deliciously formidable center.
