Meri Tanhai follows Khizar (Azaan Sami Khan), a young man determined to leave the family business behind and study in London. His decision unsettles a close-knit household, especially when his grandfather makes the trip conditional on an engagement to his cousin Maliha (Kubra Khan). London gives Meri Tanhai a glossy change of scenery, and Kubra Khan brings a welcome emotional pull to its chilly family conflicts. Our gripe is harder to ignore: the opening leans on a painfully familiar engagement-and-escape setup, with sluggish pacing and characters who take too long to spark. Even the pretty locations cannot disguise every worn plot turn. Come for Kubra and Azaan Sami Khan, but expect the romance to travel a very well-trodden road.
