About Muqabil

Muqabil follows Pareesa (Kubra Khan), a wealthy, intensely private young woman whose silences conceal the lasting trauma of childhood sexual assault. Raised under the shadow of her formidable, self-made mother Shehnaz (Saba Hameed), she surprises everyone by choosing Arman (Mohsin Abbas Haider), a kindhearted man from a middle-class family, as her husband. Arman is drawn to her but cannot understand why she has crossed the social divide to marry him. The answer ties their new relationship to Mahmood (Asif Raza Mir), a respected figure from Pareesa's past, and turns a seemingly unlikely romance into a tense struggle over memory, accountability, and healing. Written by Zafar Mairaj, the drama treats Pareesa's guardedness as more than a mystery to be solved. It asks whether trust can grow when a survivor must confront both the man who harmed her and a family culture more comfortable with appearances than painful truth.

Kubra Khan gives Pareesa a watchful stillness that makes every hard-won word land, while Mohsin Abbas Haider brings warmth and bruised confusion to Arman. Their chemistry keeps Zafar Mairaj's difficult subject rooted in human connection, and Ali Hassan's direction lets charged silences breathe. Our one gripe? The story loses some of its grip in the middle, circling conflict after a fiercely controlled opening stretch. Even so, this is brave, absorbing television with performances that refuse easy answers.
