About Nauroz (Telefilm)

Rishtina (Mawra Hocane) has spent twenty years hidden inside a mountain home, protected by Agha Jaan (Shamil Khan) from a family secret and a world she knows only through stories. When circumstances force her toward Islamabad, her wonder collides with hunger, danger and the hard edges of city life. A chance encounter with Hira (Mahnoor Shaukat), a confident social media creator, opens a door to connection, visibility and sudden influence. Yet every filter and viral moment pushes Rishtina toward a thornier question: is an online identity a path to freedom, or another kind of cage? Written by Kashif Anwar, Nauroz gives its heroine a survival story with unusual moral weight. Mawra Hocane brings innocence without making Rishtina helpless, while Manzar Sehbai and Shamil Khan anchor the family conflict with grave intensity. It is a socially alert tale about self-discovery, resilience and learning to face the world on your own terms.

Editor’s Take

Mawra Hocane makes Rishtina's first brush with the outside world feel raw enough to sting, shedding every trace of star polish for a performance built on bewilderment and stubborn courage. Shamil Khan gives the opening conflict real emotional muscle, and Kashif Anwar's social media premise has more on its mind than easy moralizing. Our one gripe? The message occasionally announces itself too loudly. Still, this is purposeful television with dirt under its fingernails and conviction in its bones.
