About Ru Baru Ishq Tha

Salwa (Ushna Shah) and Almeer (Danish Taimoor) are in their final year at university, circling each other with the kind of half-admitted affection everyone around them notices first. The third point of their little circle is Ayyan (Sanam Chaudhry), a tomboy who slots into Almeer's world so easily that nobody thinks to ask what she actually wants. Marriage should have settled things. Instead it opens a fault line: a love triangle hardens into something colder, deaths and an unjust imprisonment scatter both families, and Ayyan's brother Wahaj (Ali Abbas) takes up his sister's happiness as a personal mission, whatever it costs everyone else. Written by Amber Azhar and directed by Furqan Khan for Har Pal Geo, Ru Baru Ishq Tha is a story about revenge, fate and regret closing in on three people who once had only each other.

Instep called it a far cry from the saas-bahu sagas crowding the schedule, and that lands: Ru Baru Ishq Tha builds its heartbreak out of friendship, not scheming in-laws. Sanam Chaudhry's Ayyan is the engine here, a best friend curdling into an antagonist you can almost forgive. Our one gripe? Once the tragedy machinery starts turning, the easy campus warmth that made us care about these three is gone for good. Cruel, messy, and quietly hard to shake.
