About Sabaat

Sabaat sets ambition and privilege against self-respect in a sharp class-clash drama. Anaya Aziz (Mawra Hocane) is an intelligent, outspoken student from a close middle-class family who refuses to be diminished by wealth or status. Her confidence unsettles Hassan Fareed (Ameer Gilani), a privileged classmate whose early arrogance gives way to admiration and a romance that must survive his family's resistance. The fiercest opposition comes from Hassan's controlling sister Miraal (Sarah Khan), who treats money and influence as permission to arrange everyone else's lives. Her path crosses with the composed Dr Haris (Usman Mukhtar), opening another strand about power, vulnerability and mental health. Written by Kashif Anwar, the serial gives its women real ideological weight while Rawalpindi's university and family settings keep the conflict grounded. At heart, Sabaat asks whether love and character can outlast pride, class prejudice and the need to control those closest to us.

Editor’s Take

Sarah Khan's Miraal is the performance that crackles: imperious, brittle and fascinating even when she is infuriating. Mawra Hocane gives Anaya a warm steeliness, and the Rawalpindi setting makes the class conflict feel lived-in rather than decorative. Our one gripe? Hassan's rapid early transformation asks for more patience than the script earns. Still, Kashif Anwar gives his women unusual ideological weight, and Ali Sethi's title song adds a haunting pulse. We came for the clash, stayed for the character work.
