About Shiza
Shiza (Sanam Chaudhry) is a young woman with dreams of her own, but in her lower-middle-class household, her father Shakir (Rashid Farooqi) sees a daughter's future as something that can be traded. Driven by greed and the crushing weight of a cruel social custom, he bargains away her life to the wealthy, powerful Faraz (Aijaz Aslam). Caught between Hashir (Farhan Malhi), the possibility of love, and a family willing to sacrifice her for its own appetite, Shiza must find the courage to resist a world that treats women as property.
Written by Syed Atif Ali and directed by Syed Ramish Rizvi, Shiza turns a harrowing social issue into an emotionally charged family drama. Its focus is not merely on victimhood, but on a young woman's insistence that her voice, choices, and future belong to her. For viewers drawn to issue-led melodrama with a determined heroine at its center, this is a tense and deeply indignant watch.
Editor’s Take
Shiza's strongest choice is its refusal to prettify the transaction at its center, with Sanam Chaudhry carrying the heroine's resistance against a family that treats her future as currency. Josh's Iltija adds a mournful musical pulse that suits the material beautifully. Our one gripe? The moral framing can be so blunt that nuance barely gets into the room. Still, this is purposeful melodrama, angry about the right things and unafraid to say so.
