About Sona Chandi

Debt sends Sona (Hamid Rana) and his wife Chandi (Sheeba Hassan) from their village in Punjab to Lahore, where the candid, good-hearted couple take whatever domestic work they can find. Each new household promises wages, but also brings a fresh tangle of pride, family friction and city manners. Sona and Chandi arrive as servants and repeatedly become unlikely problem-solvers, using plain speech, loyalty and rural common sense to see what their employers cannot.

Written by Munnu Bhai and directed by Rashid Dar, Sona Chandi turns that roaming setup into warm social comedy. The couple's innocence is never treated as stupidity. It becomes the lens through which comfortable homes reveal their vanities and ordinary people reveal their troubles. Hamid Rana and Sheeba Hassan keep the series rooted in an affectionate marriage, giving its satire a generous heart. It is a charming portrait of working people navigating Lahore without surrendering the decency that brought them there.

Hamid Rana and Sheeba Hassan make simplicity feel like a comic superpower: their easy partnership lets Munnu Bhai expose class vanity without turning the show sour. The repeated domestic-helper setup can make the episodes feel mechanically familiar. Still, few comedies carry working-class dignity with such warmth. This is gentle satire with a stubborn backbone.
