About Very Filmy

Very Filmy follows Danya (Dananeer Mobeen), a headstrong, career-driven aspiring filmmaker whose ambitions are rooted in documentary work and a deep bond with her father and grandmother. Across the family orbit is Rohaan (Ameer Gilani), a film student living abroad who faces an ultimatum from his father: accept an arranged match in Pakistan or lose his financial support. Determined to escape the proposal, Rohaan travels home with his mischievous younger brother Freddy (Umar Khan), who devises a gloriously cinematic plan. Because Danya cannot stand Shah Rukh Khan, Rohaan will imitate the superstar until she rejects him. The trouble begins when Danya sees through the performance and decides to answer theatrics with theatrics of her own. Set among filmmaking dreams, opinionated relatives, clashing generations and a household that treats every entrance like a movie scene, the series turns a reluctant match into a bright Ramadan rom-com about ambition, family pressure and two people trying to direct their own lives.

Dananeer Mobeen and Ameer Gilani make the Shah Rukh Khan homages sparkle, playing the central tug-of-war with breezy chemistry instead of noisy mugging. Ali Hassan's bright visual flourishes and the filmmaking chatter give this Ramadan rom-com a personality of its own. Our one gripe? The family setup can feel contrived, and the story occasionally turns preachy when its charm needs room to breathe. Still, when the leads trade cinematic tricks, we happily buy a front-row ticket.
