About Yunhi

Yunhi brings a sharply modern outsider into a household bound by memory, faith, and inherited rules. Kaneez Fatima, better known as Kim (Maya Ali), arrives from the United States with her father to reconnect with long-estranged relatives, only to find that everyday family life carries expectations she neither understands nor quietly accepts. Her blunt questions immediately put her at odds with Dawood (Bilal Ashraf), a reserved, devout doctor whose calm certainty appears to embody everything she distrusts. Yet their friction gradually opens into an unusual romance between two people from the same roots but raised in opposite worlds. Written by Sarwat Nazir, the serial uses that relationship to examine cultural identity, consent, women's choices, and the stubborn habits passed through generations. With a sprawling family and an unresolved history surrounding Kim's father, every conversation seems capable of reopening an old wound. Yunhi is at its most compelling when love becomes less about surrender and more about learning how to listen.

Editor’s Take

Yunhi looks lovely when it slows down: the calm frames and Shae Gill and Sami Khan's wistful title track give Kim and Dawood's cross-cultural romance a gentle pulse. Our gripe? The script leans so hard on Kim's unfamiliarity with Pakistan that some choices feel manufactured, while the characters' age coding occasionally strains belief. Still, the friction between old household rules and one stubborn outsider gives this family drama a distinct spark.
