The Story Behind Alvida OST
Alvida OST is the title song of HUM TV's 2015 romantic drama, where Haya's unreturned love for Hadi sends her toward a painful marriage and a hard-won reckoning with attachment. Shafqat Amanat Ali gives the track its solitary voice, with Sahir Ali Bagga composing and Imran Raza writing the words. Their refrain turns farewell into the drama's emotional centre: not a clean ending, but a struggle between memory and the need to let go. Bagga's melody leaves space for Ali's controlled, aching delivery, allowing the repeated title to gather weight each time it returns. The song was recognized beyond the serial, earning Best OST nominations at both the 4th Hum Awards and the 15th Lux Style Awards.
Meaning & Translation
Alvida means "farewell" in Urdu, and the song treats that word as something the heart cannot say without resistance. Its speaker searches for peace while memory refuses to loosen its hold. Broken hopes feel like a heart losing its rhythm, and separation becomes a lonely road with no clear end. The recurring goodbye is therefore less a final decision than an attempt at self-preservation: if love now brings only pain, the heart must release it to survive. Yet the voice still asks the absent beloved to remain inwardly close, capturing the contradiction at the centre of grief, wanting distance from hurt while fearing the emptiness that follows.
