The Story Behind Banno OST
Banno is the 2021 original soundtrack for Geo Entertainment's daily serial of the same name. Sahir Ali Bagga composed and co-sang the song with Aima Baig, while M. Mujtaba wrote the lyrics. HAR PAL GEO released the video four days before the drama premiered on 29 September, introducing the emotional world of Beena, an orphan whose love and loyalty draw her into painful family conflict. Bagga and Baig move from restrained verses into a more forceful refrain, making the duet feel like two sides of the same wound. The soundtrack accompanied a 7th Sky Entertainment production directed by Ali Akbar, and its melancholic design reflects the oppression at the center of the story. Rather than retelling the plot, the recording distills its central tension: affection offered as comfort can also become a source of separation and grief.
Meaning & Translation
Banno means "bride," a tender term for a woman entering marriage. In this OST, the word carries a painful irony. The song is less a bridal celebration than a confession shaped by hurt, distance, and an undeserved punishment in love. Its central refrain thanks a seemingly merciful beloved for giving love, then reveals that the same gift has also brought grief. That contradiction mirrors Beena's world in the drama, where loyalty and affection leave her exposed rather than secure.
