The Story Behind Beqadar OST

Beqadar OST is the title song for HUM TV's 2022 serial Beqadar, built around Mahrukh, played by Anum Fayyaz, and the cost of holding a fractured family together. Sibte Hassan sings, composes and directs the music, while Mubashir Hassan wrote the lyrics. The arrangement pairs Baqir Abbas's flute and Amir Azhar's strings with Naqi Ali's programming, giving the lead vocal an acoustic frame within a studio-built backing. That design suits a story about domestic violence, sacrifice, and loyalties strained by stepfamilies and second marriages. The serial was written by Raheel Ahmed and Mahmood Elahi, directed by Kamran Akbar Khan, and produced by Momina Duraid. Rather than selling the drama through spectacle, the OST frames Mahrukh's endurance as something intimate, bruised, and unresolved.

Meaning & Translation

Beqadar describes someone who does not recognize another person's worth, while in context it also carries the pain of feeling unvalued. The song speaks from the position of a person who has sacrificed repeatedly for loved ones and received neglect in return. Its recurring address is less a simple insult than a wounded realization: devotion has not created gratitude or safety. Images of sleeplessness, thirst, thorns, and mourning turn that imbalance into an emotional landscape of exhaustion. For Mahrukh's story, the title captures both sides of the conflict, the people who take her care for granted and the way their disregard makes her question what a lifetime of duty has cost.
