The Story Behind Chori Chori
Chori Chori is Meesha Shafi's solo reinterpretation of a Punjabi folk song closely associated with Reshma, recorded for Coke Studio Pakistan Season 3 and released in July 2010. Shafi herself proposed the tribute, hoping to carry Reshma's music forward, while producer and composer Rohail Hyatt reshaped the familiar song for the studio's fusion setting. The performance begins in a spare, almost hushed register before the arrangement opens into a denser exchange between voice and ensemble. Shafi's grainy, forceful delivery remains the center of that build, giving the old melody both intimacy and physical weight.
