The Story Behind Yaad Sajan
Yaad Sajan was the first single from Hadiqa Kiani's third album, Rung, released in 2002. Written by Riaz-Ur-Rahman Saghar and composed by Kiani with Irfan Kiani, it places her voice inside a melody shaped by a regional Sindhi accent, raag-inspired phrasing, and Western instrumentation. Irfan Kiani produced the album, while Zeeshan Haider handled the music arrangement. The recording's acoustic color comes from Baqir Abbas and Hassan Badshah on flute, Kamran Bao on guitar, and a dholak section. That mix gives the song a pop frame without sanding away its folk character. A recurring flute figure answers Kiani's vocal, making the ache of remembrance feel immediate rather than ornamental. As Rung's first single, the track became the public's introduction to a new chapter in Kiani's catalog.
