De Hunar Ki Bheek

The Story Behind De Hunar Ki Bheek

De Hunar Ki Bheek is Hadiqa Kiani's 2020 Urdu hamd, shared as a personal expression of devotion to Allah. Published on her official YouTube channel in May, the five-minute recording was made at Hassan Badshah Studio. Kiani introduced it after sharing a recitation of Surah Ar Rahman the previous week, thanking listeners and describing this hamd as especially close to her heart.

Her accompanying message set out a simple purpose: to help listeners feel closer to Allah and to pray for continued blessings. That introduction places the recording within a sequence of devotional releases, with Kiani explaining directly to her audience why she chose to share this particular piece.

Meaning & Translation

De Hunar Ki Bheek can be understood as 'Grant me the gift of skill.' Hunar means skill, talent or artistry, while bheek literally means alms. Read as the title of a hamd, that language places the speaker in a position of humility before Allah: ability is something to receive with gratitude, rather than claim as a personal entitlement. The title turns a request for creative capacity into a prayer. Its devotional force lies in asking to be given the means to express praise, and in recognising a source beyond the self for that gift.
