The Story Behind Deewangi
Deewangi is the title song for 7th Sky Entertainment's Har Pal Geo drama starring Danish Taimoor and Hiba Bukhari. Sahir Ali Bagga sings and composes the track, while Imran Raza wrote its Urdu lyrics; Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi are credited as producers. Released in 2019, the OST channels the serial's central relationship into a lover's accusation after devotion turns into betrayal. Bagga begins with a wounded, controlled delivery, then lets the repeated title hook rise into a forceful lament, giving the song the same emotional volatility as the story. The soundtrack became notable beyond the episodes, earning a Best Title Track/OST nomination at the 2021 Pakistan International Screen Awards.
Meaning & Translation
Deewangi means madness or an overwhelming, obsessive passion in Urdu. Here the word is not used as simple romantic praise. The song is voiced by someone who feels abandoned after giving a lover complete trust, so the title becomes a charge: how could such intense devotion end in separation and betrayal? Images of a stolen heart, a home built together, tears, and unanswered questions frame love as both shelter and injury. As the refrain returns to the unfaithful beloved, the emotion shifts between longing, disbelief, anger, and grief. The song therefore mirrors the drama's central warning that possessiveness can disguise itself as love.
