The Story Behind Dukh Sukh OST
Dukh Sukh OST is Fizza Javed's title song for Urdu1's anthology, whose stories turn on ordinary lives and difficult moral choices. The broadcaster names Sakina Samo as director, Bee Gull as writer and Real Entertainment as the drama's production company. The opening story, Maafi, follows a village woman who shelters an ailing stranger, making compassion and forgiveness central to the household's conflicts.
The song runs two minutes and 59 seconds. Streaming catalogs list its digital release on 6 September 2017, while Urdu1 uploaded this official YouTube presentation on 16 July 2020. That later video gives the soundtrack its own place alongside the television episodes, with Javed credited for the OST in the broadcaster's description.
Meaning & Translation
Dukh Sukh means "sorrow and happiness", with dukh suggesting pain or grief and sukh suggesting comfort, ease or joy. In everyday Urdu, the pair can also refer to life's ups and downs: the troubles and pleasures a person experiences over time.
Read alongside the anthology's stories, the title invites a reflection on how hardship and relief occupy the same life. A household can hold resentment and kindness at once, and an act of compassion can change what suffering feels like. The two words leave room for shared burdens as well as moments of peace, giving the title an emotional reach beyond a single happy or unhappy event.
