The Story Behind Akhiyan
Akhiyan is a companion soundtrack recording for Green TV Entertainment's 2026 serial Ghulam Bashah Sundri. The official channel released the five-minute duet on 19 May 2026, with Jabbar Abbas and Anamta Sabri sharing the vocals. Syed Adeel Ali composed the song, while S.K. Khalish wrote the lyrics. The video bills actors Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz, Hina Afridi and Imran Ashraf, tying the track directly to the drama's central triangle. Written for a story set within a feudal household in rural Sindh, the song accompanies the conflict around Ghulam, Sundri and Bashah, where love collides with class, inheritance and possessive power. Its two-voice format suits that divided emotional world, letting the soundtrack frame longing as something felt from more than one side.
Meaning & Translation
Akhiyan means "eyes" in Punjabi. Here, the word becomes a shorthand for longing: the eyes keep returning to the beloved even when circumstances make closeness impossible. The duet frames love as patient but painful, shaped by waiting, separation and the hope of reunion. In the world of Ghulam Bashah Sundri, that feeling mirrors relationships constrained by class, family power and rivalry. Rather than treating sight literally, the song uses the eyes as witnesses to unspoken devotion. Its emotional center is the contradiction between being able to see or remember someone and being unable to reach them, leaving love suspended between loyalty and ache.
