The Story Behind Judai OST
Judai OST is the title song for ARY Digital's 2016 drama Judai, a family story shaped by Hassan's secret second marriage and the relationship between Hamza and Zeena. Quratulain Balouch is the credited singer; ARY Digital's soundtrack release names Waqar Ali as composer and Sabir Zafar as lyricist. The drama was written by Parisa Siddiqui and directed by Roomi Insha, with Samina Peerzada and Usman Peerzada playing the couple whose apparently settled marriage conceals the secret.
The song places one singer's voice against a plot that reaches across two households, giving the family conflict an intimate scale. Reporting from the Judai set in May 2016, Wajiha Jawaid singled out the OST's lyrics and composition, showing how closely the music was identified with the serial during its original run.
Meaning & Translation
Judai means separation in Urdu, but the word can describe more than the distance between two people. In this song's dramatic setting, it also suggests the moment trust gives way and familiar relationships begin to feel strange. A loved person may still be present, yet secrecy has already opened a gap.
The title therefore carries both absence and estrangement: losing closeness can hurt before a final parting takes place. Heard alongside the serial, the sorrow belongs to lovers and family members alike, as choices made in one household spread into another. Its emotional center is the wish to remain connected when that bond has become uncertain.
