The Story Behind Sar-e-Rah OST
Sar-e-Rah OST is the 2023 title song for ARY Digital's six-part miniseries about people challenging the limits placed on their lives. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Rose Mary share the vocals, with music composed by Naveed Nashad and words by Qamar Nashad. The song's forward-looking message mirrors Rania's journey after her father's heart attack, when she takes over his taxi and becomes her family's provider despite opposition. It also suits the wider anthology, written by Adeel Razzaq and directed by Ahmed Bhatti, which follows characters confronting child marriage, infertility, gender prejudice and barriers to independence. With Khan and Rose Mary sharing the performance, the title theme gives personal courage a collective voice and carries the drama's larger call for dignity and change.
Meaning & Translation
Sar-e-rah means "on the way" or "along the road" in Urdu. Here the road is both a real journey and a metaphor for choosing one's direction through hardship. The song encourages its listener to move without fear, trust the inner voice that pulls her forward, and refuse to let sorrow or social judgment decide where she may go. Its images of flight, morning light and an unstoppable step turn freedom into motion. In the drama's context, that message belongs especially to Rania, but it also embraces the other characters who claim education, work, respect and self-determination. The refrain therefore treats life as a journey through difficulty, not a place to remain trapped by it.
