The Story Behind Pyaar Ka Rog

Pyaar Ka Rog brought Strings into the second episode of Velo Sound Station's 2020 debut season, released on 27 November 2020. Bilal Maqsood first shaped the composition as a piano piece for his Instagram lockdown sessions. For this studio version, Faisal Kapadia's lead vocal and a full electronic production transformed that intimate sketch into a sleek band performance. Anwar Maqsood wrote the Urdu lyrics, while Usman Sheikh and Haroon Sheikh of Aag produced the recording. The arrangement trades much of Strings' familiar guitar-pop warmth for dark synth-pop colors, with pulsing electronics and an insistent refrain carrying the weight of romantic damage. Released only months before Strings ended their long partnership, the song became one of the duo's final recordings together and a late experiment rather than a simple nostalgia piece.

Meaning & Translation

Pyaar Ka Rog literally means "the sickness of love." The song treats romance not as comfort but as a lingering condition that survives after a relationship has run its course. Its narrator tries to dismiss what happened and walk alone, yet images of fading evenings, fallen leaves, photographs and burning dreams keep reopening the hurt. The recurring idea of love as both fire and sorrow captures that contradiction: memory wounds him, but he cannot simply put it away. Rather than pleading for a reunion, the song stays inside the numb, quiet stage of heartbreak, where silence seems to speak more honestly than conversation.
