The Story Behind Sukoon
Sukoon began as Hassan Sheikh and Roshaan Sherwani's 2022 collaboration with Shae Gill before ARY Digital presented it as the title soundtrack for the 2023 drama Sukoon. The duo wrote and composed the song, with Roshaan also producing its gently programmed pop setting. They told Dawn Images that its melody began with Roshaan humming it spontaneously, while the words grew from their uneasy 2021: life looked successful from outside, yet they felt creatively adrift. That tension gives the recording its bittersweet character, with Hassan and Shae's measured vocals carrying loneliness toward hope rather than despair. Dawn reported in June 2023 that the original had passed five million streams and helped place Hassan and Roshaan among Spotify's Top Local Artists of 2022.
