The Story Behind Faisla OST
Faisla OST was created for ARY Digital's 2017 serial Faisla, a romantic drama about Marium's broken marriage, Umair's betrayal, and Asad's long-silent love. Goher Mumtaz, who also played Asad, wrote, composed, arranged, and produced the track, sharing the vocals with Amna Rai. He later explained that he shaped soundtracks such as Faisla around the flow of their stories, and that dramatic purpose is clear in this reflective duet.
Rather than treating the title as decoration, the song lets its two voices carry the uncertainty built into the serial's central choice. Made at GM Studioz in Lahore and mixed and mastered by Hassan Abbas, its polished pop-rock arrangement keeps the focus on longing, regret, and the tension between love and commitment.
Meaning & Translation
Faisla means a decision, verdict, or final choice in Urdu. Here the word carries the emotional weight of deciding what to do after trust has fractured. The duet frames love as a question that feeling alone cannot answer: commitment, regret, and self-respect all press against the desire to return.
Against Marium's broken marriage and Asad's patient devotion, the title becomes less about choosing between two men than about choosing what kind of future she can accept. The song's central idea is that some decisions arrive only after pain has stripped away easy answers, while its male and female voices give that conflict two emotional perspectives.
