About Alif

Alif follows Qalb-e-Momin (Hamza Ali Abbasi), a celebrated filmmaker whose glamour and arrogance mask childhood pain and a severed connection to his spiritual roots. Momina Sultan (Sajal Aly) is a gifted actor struggling to support her family without surrendering her principles to the entertainment industry's demands. Their first meeting is a collision of ego and conviction, but fate keeps drawing their lives together. As Momin confronts memories of his mother, Husn-e-Jahan (Kubra Khan), and the questions left by his past, his grandfather Abdul Aalaa (Manzar Sehbai) becomes a quiet guide back toward faith and purpose. Written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Haseeb Hasan, Alif moves between present-day ambition and an older family story with unusual visual grace. It is a spiritual drama wrapped in romance and show-business intrigue, anchored by two wounded people whose search for meaning gives every encounter emotional weight.

We love how Haseeb Hasan lets past and present speak to each other without turning Umera Ahmed's spiritual questions into a lecture. Sajal Aly brings controlled ache to Momina, while Hamza Ali Abbasi makes Momin's swagger feel like armor, and their restrained chemistry quietly crackles. Our one gripe? The entertainment industry can be painted with too broad and judgmental a brush. Even so, its melancholy beauty and finely tuned performances make Alif feel richer than the usual primetime spectacle.
