About Baray Bhaiya

Kabir (Aijaz Aslam) was barely done being a son when he had to start being a father. With his parents gone, the eldest brother takes on both roles at once: raising his younger brothers and sisters, funding their futures, and quietly shelving every dream of his own. For years nobody questions the arrangement, because nobody has to. Then Mehwish (Rabya Kulsoom) offers him a second chance at a life that is actually his, and the household he built begins to resent the man who built it. Waniya (Maya Khan) is the serial's most calculating presence, hidden agendas surface, and gratitude curdles into greed. Written by Nuzhat Saman and directed by Ali Akbar for Har Pal Geo, this 7th Sky Entertainment serial sits with the question every eldest child eventually faces: what is left of the person who gave everything away, once everyone else has finished taking?

Editor’s Take

Aijaz Aslam is the whole engine here, and the praise that followed him out of this one was earned: Kabir is written as a man whose love has become obligation, and Aslam plays that without begging for sympathy. Maya Khan is the other draw, admired for how comfortably she wears Waniya's worst instincts. Our one gripe? At ninety nightly episodes this is a daily-soap marathon, and a story this focused would land harder at half the length. A big-brother story that earns its tears.
