About Faltu Larki
Jahan Ara (Dania Enwer) arrives from India after her mother's death, expecting a home with relatives in Pakistan. Instead, she enters a crowded household where hospitality comes with conditions and everyone seems to have an opinion about her future. Anwar (Salman Shahid) lives with two wives: outspoken Raskha (Hina Dilpazeer) and the much younger Paro (Samiya Mumtaz). Their rivalries, their children's marriage prospects and another family's eccentric affairs leave little room for Jahan Ara to decide what she wants.
Written by Faseeh Bari Khan and directed by Mazhar Moin, Faltu Larki uses domestic comedy to explore the unequal treatment of women. Behind the family quarrels are questions of belonging, respect and who gets to make decisions. Jahan Ara's search for a place in this unfamiliar world sits alongside the struggles of women whose needs are repeatedly dismissed, even by the people closest to them.
Editor’s Take
We'd watch Faltu Larki for the arguments alone. Faseeh Bari Khan gives family bickering a sharp comic edge, and Hina Dilpazeer and Samiya Mumtaz make the barbs feel deliciously personal. The humour bites because there's hurt underneath it. Our gripe is the haveli comedy, which sometimes trades that precision for plain silliness. Still, this is an ensemble with teeth: come for the cutting remarks, stay for the women they're aimed at.
