About Habs

Set between two homes separated by money but equally scarred by family pressure, Habs follows Ayesha (Ushna Shah), a responsible young woman from a lower-middle-class household, and Basit (Feroze Khan), a wealthy businessman carrying deep wounds from his mother's abandonment. Ayesha gives up plans for further study to help support her mother and sisters, while Basit discovers that his inheritance depends on marriage. Their practical arrangement soon becomes tangled in a secret bargain, old mistrust and the interference of people who believe they know what is best for them.

Aliya Makhdoom's drama turns a marriage of necessity into an intimate test of trust. Ayesha and Basit are drawn together even as their different worlds, guarded temperaments and unresolved family histories keep pushing them apart. With Ayesha Omar as Basit's former fiancée Soha and a strong family ensemble around the leads, Habs finds romance in two damaged people learning whether love can survive the terms on which their relationship began.

Editor’s Take

Ushna Shah and Feroze Khan make the silences between Ayesha and Basit feel charged, and the supporting women give their mismatched marriage a convincing social weight. We especially like how the early episodes move briskly through a familiar rich-man, struggling-woman setup without turning either lead into a cartoon. Our one gripe? The harsh colour grading sometimes fights the natural performances instead of framing them. Still, the chemistry keeps this marriage-of-necessity drama firmly out of the formula bin.
