About Jhoom

Aryaan (Haroon Kadwani) is a young engineer who carries a quiet grief beneath his easy smile, the kind of man who would rather lift up everyone around him than admit how much he is hurting. Maryam (Zara Noor Abbas) is a poised, compassionate doctor, older than him and settled in her own life, who slowly becomes the calm he has been missing. Their growing closeness is tender and real, but it runs straight into a society that has very firm ideas about who is allowed to love whom, and an age difference that family and onlookers refuse to let them forget. Written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Ali Faizan for Har Pal Geo, Jhoom is a lush, cinematic romance about two people choosing each other against the grain. It asks a simple, stubborn question: when love is unconventional, is it brave enough to survive everyone else's opinion?

Jhoom looks like money: lush, cinematic, a whiff of the big screen on a TV budget, and it has the good sense to build itself around Zara Noor Abbas, who is luminous as Dr. Maryam. The older-woman, younger-man premise is bold for Pakistani TV. Our gripe? It's more gloss than substance: the conflicts land exactly where you expect, the spark between the leads runs hot and cold, and the finale wraps before the interesting part, married life, even begins. Beautiful, breezy, a little hollow.
