About MEIN (Telefilm)
Mubashra (Ayeza Khan) has never really been told no. She is wealthy, willful and used to getting exactly what she wants, and she collides with Zaid (Wahaj Ali), a kind-hearted man from an ordinary background whose heart already belongs to Ayra. Two strong-headed people, both unlucky in love, are pushed together by circumstance and held apart by everything else: class, family expectation, and a society that keeps score. Zaid's attachment gives Mubashra something to want and something to resent, and every household on either side of the divide has an opinion about it. ARY Digital's feature-length telling of Zanjabeel Asim Shah's story, directed by Badar Mehmood, packs that collision into a single sitting, with Azeekah Daniel, Usman Peerzada, Aijaz Aslam and Shehzad Nawaz rounding out the ensemble. It leaves you with one painful question: what does a woman who has never been refused do when she wants the one person she cannot have?

Ayeza Khan's entrance as Mubashra is the reason people kept turning up: viewers latched onto her immediately, and Wahaj Ali's easy screen presence gives her a steady wall to throw herself at. Our gripe is the writing. Reviewers were blunt that Mubashra never grows past spoiled, that the central pairing generates more argument than heat, and that the ending arrives abrupt and unfinished. Come for Ayeza's conviction, not for the chemistry.
