About Muamma

At the centre of Muamma is Jahan Ara (Saba Qamar), a financially independent woman whose measured voice and watchful stillness make her impossible to read. The tenants in her house believe they are living ordinary lives, but their relationships become part of a quietly unnerving game of observation, secrets and subtle interference. As loyalties shift and private weaknesses surface, Jahan Ara's guarded past keeps everyone, including the people closest to her, guessing about whether she is protecting herself, pursuing justice or engineering something darker.

Imran Nazir's psychological drama surrounds Qamar with Usman Mukhtar, Ali Ansari, Anoushay Abbasi and Nabeel Aijaz Zuberi, turning a domestic setting into a maze of suspicion. Shaqielle Khan's intimate direction lets mirrors, doorways and loaded silences do as much work as dialogue. Muamma is a patient, morally ambiguous slow-burn for viewers who enjoy character mystery over instant answers, with every uneasy exchange revealing another crack in its apparently ordinary world.

Editor’s Take

Saba Qamar makes stillness feel dangerous here. A narrowed look or clipped reply turns Jahan Ara into the room's most magnetic puzzle, while Shaqielle Khan's mirrors and half-blocked doorways keep the unease humming. Our one gripe? The slow-burn domestic scenes sometimes linger after their emotional point has landed, and the mystery can feel sealed inside too small a world. Still, we'd take this thorny, morally slippery heroine over another spotless television saint any night.
