The Story Behind Ishqaway OST
Ishqaway OST is the 2024 title theme for Geo Entertainment's Ramadan serial Ishqaway. Ameer Ali sings Qamar Nashad's Punjabi lyrics over a composition by Naveed Nashad. The song frames the romance at the centre of Amar Khan's drama, in which Dubai-based designer Shahrukh returns to Pakistan and becomes entangled in Zoya's struggle within a household shaped by old accusations and family resentments. Ameer Ali's direct lead vocal and the recurring title refrain give the track an anxious, pleading character, matching a story where affection is tested by mistrust and concealed motives. Har Pal Geo released the full OST on 8 March 2024 ahead of the serial's run, with Aagha Ali and Nazish Jahangir featured in the video.
Meaning & Translation
The title turns ishq, the Urdu and Punjabi word for deep love, into a repeated, almost breathless call. In the Punjabi verses, the speaker's eyes remain tearful and the heart grows anxious while waiting for a beloved to return. Love is presented as both a promise and a risk: anger can break trust, devotion can be answered with betrayal, and youth can pass in sorrow. Wedding imagery brings the hope into focus, as the speaker dreams of the beloved marking their hands with henna in the speaker's name. Sleepless nights, prayers and fear of the evil eye deepen the longing. The refrain therefore carries romance, warning and desperation at once.
