About Ishq Beparwah

Ishq Beparwah follows Jannat (Alizeh Shah), a sheltered young woman raised by her grandmother after her mother's death. Dadi has drilled one lesson into her above all others: a husband is a Majazi Khuda, a god on earth to be obeyed without question. Jannat carries that belief into her marriage like an article of faith, until married life forces her to confront how hollow, and how quietly damaging, that old-school idea really is. Written by Samina Ejaz and directed by Ilyas Kashmiri for Green TV, the serial pairs Alizeh Shah with Affan Waheed and Raeed Alam in a breezy, family-arranged romance that gradually sharpens into something with more on its mind. It is a gentle watch about a naive girl slowly learning to recognize her own worth, and to question the inherited wisdom that told her she had none.

Editor’s Take

Alizeh Shah does wide-eyed innocence better than almost anyone her age, and here she makes Jannat feel lived-in rather than merely cute. Affan Waheed coasts on easy charm, and the early episodes go down like sherbet. Our gripe? The glamour team never got the memo, piling on so much matching-lipstick makeup that a small-town innocent ends up looking runway-ready. Sweet, sincere, over-styled. Watch it for the leads, and try to ignore the gloss.
